When your current magenta toner is empty, it's just a case of quickly swapping over to a new one. Open the cover of the printer and remove the empty toner, once all packaging is removed for the new toner it then just clicks into place.
The drum or imaging unit is the roller on the toner itself which prints the toner powder onto the page in your design. Most manufacturers make this a separate consumable, but with the HP 656X range it is part of the toners themselves, making maintenance simple as there is one less part to replace and with ever new toner there is a new drum.
