The page yield is calculated by manufacturers using ISO/IEC 24711 standards, where they print set documents of 5% page coverage until the cartridge is empty. The standard means you can compare yields between cartridges and manufacturers.

The toners in your Dell printer are very easy to replace when empty, you simply turn off your printer and open the front access cover, pinch the empty toner cartridge and pull it out, be very careful as you do not want to spill any excess toner. Then replace with the new toner. Simples! (please check user manual for full replacement instructions).
