This Compatible Brother TN243 Black Toner Cartridge is quoted as doing up to 1000 pages before needing to be replaced.
The page yield is calculated by manufacturers using ISO/IEC 24711 standards, where they print set documents of 5% page coverage until the cartridge is empty. The standard means you can compare yields between cartridges and manufacturers.
Product description
A compatible toner is a brand new toner which has been made by a third party manufacturer, rather than the manufacturer of the printer.
Just like the original, the compatible TN243 black toner can print up to 1000 pages before it will need to be replaced.
When the toner does need replacing it's easily done by opening the cover of the printer and unlocking the used toner form the drum using the small green clip at the side. The new black toner then fits in its place and just needs clipping back in.
Kept in its own packaging, the compatible TN243 black toner can be stored for up to 6 months without issue.

However I rated low as am having lots of problems with the compatibility - upon initial installation it works fine, then the first one I tried, started throwing the toner not recognised error after about 4 months and nothing I did could clear that.
Customer support could not resolve, so sent a replacement which again upon initial installation worked fine and the error cleared.
6 weeks later and again I'm getting the no toner recognised error and I've printed less than 50 pages.
Am going to switch to genuine Brother cartridges now and take the hit on cost over waste/issues.
