The colour inks can produce up to 332 cyan, 319 magenta and 130 yellow pages each and the black can produce up to 376 pages before they will need to be replaced.
The cartridges are easily changed when empty, simply remove the empty ones from the printer using the clip on the side and then push the new one in until it clicks into place.

How much ink is in a Canon PGi-550 and CLi-551 Original cartridge?
We don't advise on the number of millilitres, as not every cartridge prints using the same droplet size, so two cartridges for two different printers may both have 5ml of ink, but one will print more than the other. Instead, more accurately, the industry standard is based on printing 5% of an A4 page.
